Most people don't understand the battle of families that are in need in our city concerned about having enough money to pay for their basic living needs, this is a real problem. At least 12% of the people in the Jacksonville area live in poverty. As the economy worsens, an increasing number of people in our community are forced to make the hard choice between eating and paying their rent or mortgage, especially vulnerable are the working poor and their families. Do you know one in six children; more than 90,000 are at risk at some point in the year of going to bed without dinner? This is just Jacksonville; the study shows in the United States the average is 2.7 million children go hungry.
Won't you join with us? We have started "Adopt A Family" program. You make a pledge for $30.00 a month for three months; this allows the family to receive two additional bags of food from SafeHouse each month. You will receive an update on the family you choose. This is meant to be a short term program as to give the family time to find work or other means of assistance. With you and many others helping out one family, we can make a difference in the lives of many here in Jacksonville.
Whichever you choose, we want to thank you for supporting our efforts to give the help to those in need in our own community. No one should have to go hungry. Thank you for helping those in our community get back on their feet.
In Proverbs 11:12 it says "a generous man will prosper, he who refresheth others will himself be refreshed".
I pray refreshment in your life, family and business.
